Operated by Fast Pack Shipping, a Destination Nica partner since 2020.

Most people's first time

Shipping to Nicaragua usually goes one of two ways.

If you've tried before, you know which side you ended up on.

Without Fast Pack

You wing it.

  • Ship to a friend in Miami. Hope it doesn't sit in their garage for a month.
  • Pay a courier you found on Facebook. Get charged double at the border.
  • Try DHL or FedEx. Pay $400 for what should cost $80. Still get stuck in customs.
  • Lose track. No one answers. Eventually shrug and call it a learning experience.
With Fast Pack

You ship, we move it.

  • Free Miami address you can use for anything — Amazon, REI, your mom mailing cookies.
  • We weigh, photograph, and ship each package the same day it arrives at our Miami hub.
  • Our customs broker handles the paperwork. You pay one flat per-pound rate, plus declared duties.
  • If anything gets flagged, a real person WhatsApps you the same day. Usually fixed in hours.

Two ways to ship

Air or sea — whichever fits what you're moving.

One flat per-pound rate. Customs and duties on top, declared honestly before your package leaves Miami. Pick the mode based on what you're shipping and how soon you need it.

By air · fastest

Air shipping

Ready for pickup in days, not weeks. For everyday stuff: clothes, electronics, supplements, the iPad you cracked, that thing your mom mailed.

  • Up to 70 lbs per package · ship as many as you want
  • Customs paperwork handled end to end by our broker

By sea · cheapest

Sea freight

When you're moving a household, not a package. Furniture, appliances, books, the whole life. We handle the menaje de casa paperwork that wrecks most relocations.

  • 3–4 weeks port to port, plus customs before pickup
  • Ships every Sunday from the Port of Miami
  • Best for furniture, appliances, full-house relocations
  • Menaje de casa specialists — the paperwork that wrecks DIY moves
From $3 / lb + customs & duties

How it works

Four steps. The same since 2020.

No app to install. No portal to log into. Just an address, a WhatsApp number, and your stuff moving where it should be.

1

Get your Miami address

Free, takes 10 minutes on WhatsApp. We assign you a real US address you can use for anything you order online.

2

Ship anything there

Amazon, REI, Costco, your mom — anyone can ship to your Miami address. We accept, weigh, and photograph everything.

3

We clear customs

Our broker partner handles the paperwork. You see the full cost — shipping plus duties — before anything ships south.

4

You pick it up

Collect your boxes at our pickup point in Managua, Tola, or San Juan del Sur. We message you the moment it's ready — sign once, we hand you the box.

Why us, not them

You've probably been burned before.

Most expats in Nicaragua have a shipping horror story. We know — they end up in our DMs. Here's why we're different from the courier who ghosted you.

We live here.

Five years on the ground in San Juan del Sur. Not a Miami-only outfit with a Nicaragua post office box. If something breaks, we drive to the airport.

Menaje de casa is our specialty.

The household-relocation paperwork that wrecks most sea-freight moves. We have a broker who lives this stuff. Most couriers don't even offer sea.

Real humans, real fast.

One WhatsApp number. The same people answer every time — usually within 30 minutes during business hours. No tickets, no "escalation," no scripts.

One flat rate, declared upfront.

$8/lb air, $3/lb sea, plus your customs duties. We tell you the full number before your package ships. No surprises when you pick up.

Track your package.

Enter your tracking number and WhatsApp for the latest scan. Cached 15 minutes; refreshed automatically every hour.

Please enter your tracking number and WhatsApp.

We use WhatsApp to keep your scan history with your account and message you back if there's an issue. Both fields required. If we can't find it (or the carrier's slow), we'll point you to WhatsApp so a real person can check.

Lost your tracking number? WhatsApp us with your account name — we'll find it in under a minute.

Common questions

What people ask before signing up.

If we missed yours, message us — we'd rather answer over WhatsApp than have you guess.

How much will I pay in customs and duties?

For personal packages under $500 declared value, customs duties typically run 15–30% of the declared value. Above $500, you may also pay IVA (15% Nicaragua VAT) on the full amount. Electronics and luxury goods get higher rates.

We collect duties from you before your package leaves our possession — no surprises at pickup, no extra fees sprung on you when you collect. The full breakdown is on the shipping page.

What can't I ship?

The usual suspects: firearms, ammunition, drugs (including most CBD), liquids over 1 gallon, perishable food, live plants or animals, lithium batteries shipped separately from their device, and anything Nicaragua's customs flags as restricted (some medications, certain electronics).

If you're unsure about a specific item, ask us first — we'd rather tell you "no, don't ship that" before you spend money than have it confiscated at customs. Full list at shipping page.

How long does shipping actually take?

By air: 4–5 business days until your boxes are ready for pickup. Packages ship out of our Miami hub the same day they arrive — no consolidation delay — and clear customs in Managua in 1–2 business days. Once they reach our Managua, Tola, or San Juan del Sur pickup point, we message you to collect.

By sea: 3–4 weeks port to port. Containers depart the Port of Miami every Sunday, so timing depends on when your stuff arrives at our warehouse relative to that Sunday cutoff. Add 1–2 weeks for customs clearance in Corinto before your shipment is ready to collect in Nicaragua.

If you're weighing air vs sea on speed, the real question is what you're shipping. Documents, electronics, clothes? Air. Furniture, appliances, a household? Sea.

What if my package gets stuck in customs?

This happens on roughly 1 in 30 shipments — usually a declared-value question on electronics or a missing receipt for items over $500. Our broker handles the back-and-forth with Nicaragua customs directly, and we WhatsApp you the same day with what they need from you.

Most customs holds clear in 2–5 business days. We don't bill you for the back-and-forth time — that's on us.

Can I ship a whole house full of stuff?

Yes — that's what sea freight is for. We do shared-container shipments (you pay for the space you use, share the container with other expats) and full-container shipments (cheaper per pound if you have enough volume to fill 20 or 40 feet).

The trick is the menaje de casa paperwork — a Nicaraguan customs status that lets you bring household goods in duty-free if you're newly relocating. We have a broker who specializes in this. Without it, you'd pay full import duties on every fork. With it, you pay nothing on most of it.

Do I have to be in Nicaragua already to sign up?

No. Most people sign up before they move — they start shipping things to their Miami address weeks before their flight, so their stuff arrives in Nicaragua the same time they do (or shortly after).

If you're still planning your move, we also help with the finding a place, residency paperwork, and getting around — same team, same WhatsApp number.

Going the other way? DHL Express, right here in San Juan del Sur.

As of 2026, we're an authorized DHL Express service point in San Juan del Sur — the first one south of Managua. Drop a package off at our office, and we'll send it anywhere DHL flies.

Before

A 4-hour round trip to Managua. A courier counter that closes at lunch. Customs export forms in Spanish. No real tracking once it leaves the building.

After

Drop the box at our office two blocks from the central park. We weigh it, do the paperwork, hand it to DHL. You walk out with live tracking and a 3–5 day ETA to most of the US, Canada, and Europe.

What people send out

  • Cigars, coffee, rum to family abroad
  • Birthday gifts to kids back home
  • Documents to lawyers, notaries, banks
  • Art, ceramics, artisan crafts bought here
  • Returns of items that came in via Fast Pack
  • Small-business exports to first customers

DHL Express is an independent global carrier and not affiliated with Destination Nica. We operate as an authorized service point and share our customer-service team across both directions.

From people who use this every month

Five years of customers, two real stories.

We asked two long-time customers what they wanted other expats to know before signing up.

Before I found Fast Pack, I'd been burned twice — once by DHL for $380, once by a guy with a van who ghosted me. With these guys, I ship from Amazon every other week and it just shows up. The first time my package got flagged at customs, they had it sorted before I even noticed. That's the difference.

We moved our whole house from Portland to Tola on a sea container in 2024. Six weeks, two volcanoes, one rainy season — and not a single broken plate. The menaje de casa paperwork saved us thousands in duties we didn't know we'd owe. We tell everyone in our expat group: just use Fast Pack.
